St. Oswald’s Way Countryside Short Walks ROTHBURY & NEWTON

This is a lovely walk that takes you from Rothbury along St. Oswald’s Way in the direction of the Simonside Hills. There are superb views across the Coquet valley and to distant hills such as the Cheviots.

You return via some interesting old settlements down to the river’s floodplain, before walking along the riverbank and back, perhaps, for a well-deserved exploration of the village.

Distance: 4.5 miles (7.5 km)

This walk is available in its own folded leaflet in a set of eight which are waterproof and rip-proof, including maps, route instructions and information about the places and features found on the walks. They provide inexpensive and invaluable information to plan these great days out on St. Oswald’s Way in Northumberland.
