St. Oswald’s Way Coastal Short Walks BELFORD & DETCHANT

Belford is an attractive village in northern Northumberland situated close to the North Sea and to famous sites such as Holy Island (Lindisfarne) and Bamburgh.

It is surrounded by lovely farmland, and agriculture has been an important part of local life for many centuries. This circular route taking in Detchant is quite simply a glorious walk in the fantastic surrounding countryside.

Distance: 5.5 miles (9 km)

This walk is available in its own folded leaflet in a set of eight which are waterproof and rip-proof, including maps, route instructions and information about the places and features found on the walks. They provide inexpensive and invaluable information to plan these great days out on St. Oswald’s Way in Northumberland.

Most of these walks follow public rights of way and other paths. There are, however, sections where country roads must be used. Please take great care when walking along roads and remember to follow the Highway Code.
