St. Oswald's Way Coastal Short Walks
HOLY ISLAND (LINDISFARNE)

This delightful, historic and tidal island is sometimes referred to by its Anglo-Saxon name of 'Lindisfarne'. Holy Island is famous for both its Anglo-Saxon and medieval religious heritage and the enchanting castle which looks over the harbour and village from its high perch.

The tidal mud flats, saltmarshes and dunes are part of an extremely important wildlife site, with rare plants and birds that visit from thousands of miles away.

Distance: 3 miles (5 km)

This walk is available in its own folded leaflet in a set of eight which are waterproof and rip-proof, including maps, route instructions and information about the places and features found on the walks. They provide inexpensive and invaluable information to plan these great days out on St. Oswald's Way in Northumberland.
